Avian Invasions Launched

Congratulations to Phill Cassey on the publication of his Oxford University Press book ‘Avian Invasions: the ecology and evolution of exotic birds’. Written together with Tim Blackburn (Institute of Zoology, London and an honorary member of the Centre for Ornithology) and Julie Lockwood (Rutgers University, New Jersey) Avian Invasions summarizes the particularly long academic history of the study of exotic birds. By synthesizing the unique historical record of global bird introductions it provides insights between the study of biological invasions, avian conservation biology, and basic principles of ecology and evolution. The result is the most comprehensive picture yet of the invasion process. Members of the Centre for Ornithology helped celebrate the launch of the book with a wee drop of French bubbly !!
