Supplementary Feeding Working Group Meeting

The team from the Centre for Ornithology’s Chaddesley Wood supplementary feeding study recently made their way down to the Tremough Campus of the University of Exeter at Falmouth for the biannual meeting of the Supplementary Feeding Working Group.  This collaborative group is comprised of members from the University of Birmingham, the University of Exeter, the British Trust for Ornithology and industry representatives from bird food suppliers, and meets twice a year to discuss current and future supplementary feeding research within the group.

Attendees on this occasion were Dr Jim Reynolds, Jen Smith, Tim Harrison and Simone Webber from the University of Birmingham, Dr Stu Bearhop, Dr Jon Blount, Kate Plummer and Sarah Vandome from the University of Exeter, Dr Dave Leech from the BTO and Dr Nick Carter from Gardman.  Ideas were exchanged, statistical quandaries puzzled over and exciting future research directions considered during fast-paced discussions at the Tremough campus and a local eating establishment.  The working group provides a fantastic forum for presenting and discussing research and the lively meetings are a great way to discuss progress in a friendly and focused environment.
